Use cases & metrics

Filters & Comparison Settings

The Filters & Comparison Options panel allows users to tailor their view by narrowing down the data shown across dashboards. It enhances focus, supports contextual analysis, and improves reporting precision across metrics such as throughput, cycle time, investment, and more.

Below is a breakdown of each filter and its use:

1. Compare With

  • Allows you to compare the current data with a reference period.
  • Common options: Preceding Period, Same Period Last Year, Custom Range.
  • Useful for trend analysis and identifying improvements or regressions.

2. Select Projects

  • Filters data to only include selected projects.
  • Ideal for teams working across multiple clients, workstreams, or initiatives.

3. Parent Tasks

  • Enables filtering by high-level task structures such as Epics, Initiatives, or parent tickets.
  • Helps evaluate delivery and metrics within a specific scope or goal.

4. Issue Type

  • Allows selection of issue types such as Bug, Story, Task, Sub-task, etc.
  • Great for breaking down metrics by type of work—technical debt, feature development, support, etc.

5. Teams

  • Filters by team, based on team configured in the platform.
  • Useful to isolate and compare performance by delivery unit.

6. Repositories

  • Shows only Git activity from selected repositories.
  • Critical for separating front-end, back-end, or service-based code contributions.
  • Includes “Select All” and “Clear All” buttons for quick setup.

7. Working Days (Flow Metrics)

  • Toggles whether flow metrics (like cycle time or WIP age) are calculated using only working days.
  • When enabled, weekends and holidays are excluded from timing calculations.

These filters apply across dashboards and metrics, allowing users to conduct more targeted analysis and present clearer insights to stakeholders.
