These are periods where tasks are not actively progressing, such as when they are waiting for review, approval, clarification, or deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What It Measures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Waiting Time tracks how long tasks spend in statuses that are considered inactive or paused. This includes, but is not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blocked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Waiting for QA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ready for Release<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can configure which statuses are considered &#8220;waiting&#8221; during your workspace setup. Or contacting support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How It&#8217;s Calculated<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For each task:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Add up the time spent in one or more waiting statuses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The result is either shown as a total per task or averaged across a group (e.g., by user, sprint, or project).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Formula:<\/strong><br>[Sum of Waiting Status Time] per task or group<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why It Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Identifies Process Bottlenecks<\/strong>: Excessive waiting time may signal delays in handoffs, reviews, or approvals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improves Flow Efficiency<\/strong>: Reducing waiting time helps increase delivery speed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supports Root Cause Analysis<\/strong>: Combined with cycle time and WIP age, it helps diagnose workflow friction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Waiting Time metric helps teams understand how long work is being held up in non-active states.
